‘Offsite dorm for medical front-liners’ –DPWH 6

ROXAS CITY—To meet the daily challenges of the health sector in their operation, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 is building an offsite dormitory, said Engr. Ethel Morales, assistance district engineer of DPWH Capiz’s first engineering district.

Interviewing The Capiz Times Aug. 17, Morales said that recently DPWH 6 asked them to validate the availability of a 500-sq.m. lot here in Capiz where they could build an off-site dormitory in government hospitals.

They have also been tasked to facilitate the signing of Memorandum of Agreement between the Provincial Government and DPWH 6.

In the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Capiz Aug 11, Resolution No. 325 was approved authorizing Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras to enter into an agreement between the provincial government of Capiz and the DPWH 6 to build the offsite dormitory in Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City and Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra town.

Morales said that DPWH 6 will also replace the tents in the Capiz gym’s isolation hub with cubicles. She added that the same office is also planning to build a quarantine facility for asymptomatic Corona Virus Disease-19 (Covid-19) patients in Brgy. Lanot. (Edalyn Acta)
