P390.9-M drugs seize in Region 6 last year

In curbing the illegal drug trade, the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) was able to seize P390.9
million worth of illegal drugs in Western Visayas last year.
“We cannot win this fight alone. We need the support of other government agencies and the
members of the community,” said PRO-6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Sidney
Villaflor.
The P390.9-million seizure was from the 2,112 drug bust operations conducted by police in
Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces. This also included
seizures from Iloilo City and Bacolod City.
A total of 2,873 drug suspects were also arrested by police operatives.
The regional police also confiscated almost double the volume of suspected shabu with a total of
57,465.1587 grams. In 2022, the total confiscation of shabu was 37,909.8145 grams.
For marijuana, a total of 11,155.1777 grams were confiscated in 2023. In comparison, only
1,789.233 grams of marijuana was confiscated in 2022.
The PRO-6 also reported its other accomplishments.
For the campaign against loose firearms, a total of 573 firearms were confiscated from 579
suspects. There were also 3,660 illegal firearms that were surrendered to police.
For the campaign against wanted criminals, police arrested a total of 6,465 suspects.
For the campaign against illegal fishing operations, a total of 2,277 persons were arrested.
