The Municipality of Panay entered the Top 15 of the
Department of Tourism’s initiative to champion local
tourism.
With their entry “Panay Coastal Resource Experience,” the
Municipality of Panay is acknowledged as part of the Top
15 in the Philippines and the Top 5 in the whole Western
Visayas.
The Tourism Champions Challenge was a nationwide
campaign launched by the DOT that aimed to incentivize
tourism development among cities and municipalities,
enjoining local government units to propose tourism
projects to spur economic development across the
country’s regions.
They opened submissions for proposals early this year.*
