Patients find hope in dialysis center Forty-seven-year-old Dondon from Panay town is fortunate to be among the initial batch of 14 patients who benefited from the free dialysis treatment, Nov. 10, at the provincial government-run dialysis center.
He has been undergoing the treatment process for the past nine months following a laboratory result
that showed a surge in his creatinine level needing dialysis.
A blood test measures the level of creatinine in the blood to see how kidneys are working in the body.
“At first, I noticed that I appeared yellowish, my urine is bubbly and lost my appetite to eat,” Dondon
recalled the early symptoms for his kidney failure.
A father of two children and is hypertensive, he is among the 80 patients that will be catered by the
center.
The health facility, named “Gugma Para sa Capiz Dialysis Center,” at the Out Patient Department of
the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) in Brgy. Lanot, here, is headed by Dr. Ma. Luisa
Magsila.
It has employed a number of nurses to serve the patients from Monday to Saturday.
“This is a big help for me as the treatment will be free,” he stressed, noting that he wanted to live
longer to help his junior high school and elementary grader children.
He noted that he felt dizzy and disorganized at least three days before his scheduled dialysis.
“After the treatment, I feel fine and well again,” Dondon shared.
During the center’s blessing and launching program, Gov. Fredenil Castro thanked the cooperation of
the members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan, provincial health authorities and all that helped in the
administration’s accomplishments to date.
As members of the Board, we need you more to calculate our expense as we intend to acquire more
equipment for our hospital and improve best our medical facilities,” he added.
The governor has also directed the RMPH chief Dr. Florencio Luching to add another 15 dialysis
machines at the center to cater more kidney failure-related ailments.
The provincial government is also operating at least 10 dialysis machines at the RMPH along Arnaldo
Boulevard here.
