Peaceful Holy Week

This year’s Holy Week was generally peaceful across the Province of Capiz.

In a report by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO), there was no major incident reported.

“Our proactive approach, combined with strong community partnerships, ensured a peaceful and memorable Lenten season for the people of Capiz,” said Police Colonel Albert D. Tapulao, provincial director of the CPPO.

One of the biggest reasons was the enforcement of a comprehensive security plan, which deterred major crimes.

In particular, there was a substantial deployment of police in key areas including churches for the Visita Iglesia as well as providing security for religious processions and pilgrimage sites.

There was also police presence at the bus terminals, piers, the streets, and other areas.

The CPPO also attributed the close collaboration between local government units (LGUs) of 16 municipalities and Roxas City; other government agencies, barangay officials and tanods; and force multipliers.

Captain Merry Chris Dela Cruz, chief of the CPPO’s Public Information Office, also added that the provincial police remain committed in the peace and order, especially with the upcoming May 12 elections.
