Pilar eyes easer accessibility with new market

Once finished, the new public market of the Municipality of Pilar will be more accessible.

According to Pilar Mayor Arnold Perez, the market’s new location is near the highway in Sitio Baluk, Barangay Rosario.

The property will also be the location for a transport terminal, evacuation center, slaughterhouse, and the bagsakan center.

Perez said there will also be a small mall in the area.  It would be built via a public-private-partnership.

The local government unit (LGU) of Pilar loaned a little more than P100 million from the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Perez said that the bank has allowed Pilar LGU pay the interest first before the principal amount of the loan.

The market will have a floor area of about 2,800 square meters and is situated within a six-hectare property owned by the municipal government.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the public market was held last January 29, 2025.
