The opening of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 (RACU-6) Satellite Office in Sigma has signified a major step in strengthening the fight against digital crime.
Under the auspices of the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), the RACU-6 Satellite Office in Sigma aims to give closer and faster response mechanisms to the people of Capiz and even from Aklan.
Prior to the June 9 opening of the RACU-6 Satellite Office in Sigma, victims of cybercrime had to travel to Iloilo City to formally report to authorities.
Officials said the satellite office will function as a local hub for cybercrime reporting, digital forensic coordination, investigative support, and public awareness campaigns.

It will handle complaints involving online fraud, identity theft, cyber harassment, misinformation, and other digital offenses that continue to rise alongside increased internet use.
High-ranking police officials present during the June 9, 2026 inauguration were Major General Wilson Asueta of PNP-ACG, Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño of Police Regional Office (PRO-6), and Colonel Richard Adonis J. Habawel of RACU-6.
Capiz officials present included Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro, Vice Governor James “Mitang” Magbanaua, 1st District Congressman Howard Guintu, 2nd District Congresswoman Jane Castro, Sigma Mayor Dante Rizal Eslabon, Maayon Mayor Raymond “Mon-Mon” Malapajo, Sapian Mayor Jose “Joe” Vill, nueva, Dumarao Mayor Matt Hachuela, Panay Mayor Jonathan “Sonny” Besa, and Dao Mayor Jimbo Barruela.
Mayor Juris Bautista Sucro of Kalibo, Aklan was also present.
Local officials welcomed the opening of RACU-6’s Satellite Office.
Eslabon highlighted the growing impact of online threats on communities, warning that false information and malicious posts can quickly spread and damage reputations. He said the facility reflects a stronger government commitment to protecting citizens in both physical and digital spaces.
Guintu also noted that with the expansion of digital platforms, there has also been an increase of digital crimes such as scams and cyberbullying. He noted that the new office will provide crucial support to victims who previously had limited access to cybercrime services within the province.
