As the May 12 election nears, the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) disclosed that several chiefs of police under the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) may be replaced.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 regional director, said there are complaints that some of these chiefs of police are being political.
Wanky did not name who or the municipalities, but these police chiefs are allegedly supporting a congressional candidate.
Wanky also did not name the candidate or which congressional district.
Wanky’s disclosure came after he confirmed that Colonel Bayani Razalan is being replaced by Colonel Rolando Bulalacao as police chief in Iloilo province.
An incumbent congressman reportedly filed a complaint against Razalan.
Wanky said that the order to replace Razalan directly came from Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rommel Marbil.
Under PNP rules, police officers must not engage in politics and not use the police force in favor or against any politician.
