The Municipality of Pontevedra welcomes the proposed solar-powered plant.
“This will be considered as a big improvement and will have big benefits for the economy of Pontevedra,” Municipal Administrator Jhung Tumlos told The Capiz Times in an interview.
Upgrade Energy Philippines Inc. (UGEP) recently met with Mayor Henry Tumlos and Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro to discuss the status of the renewable energy project.
UGEP’s solar powered-plant is expected to generate 47 megawatts (MWs) of electricity.
The proposed solar-powered plant will be located in a 35-hectare area of Barangay Intungcan.
Municipal Administrator Tumlos said UGEP will soon ground break the project.
Last February, the Board of Investments (BOI) awarded green lane certificates to UGEP to expedite the processing of permits and licenses for its new solar power projects including in Pontevedra.
