Province reaches 86% of immunization target

ROXAS CITY — The Capiz Provincial Health Office said that only 85.5 percent of their target beneficiaries for measles-rubella and 83.7 percent for oral polio were vaccinated in February.

A total of 54,358 were vaccinated for measles-rubella and 61,979 for polio as of February 28.

For measles-rubella disease, the PHO planned to vaccinate 63,567 children and 74,074 children for polio, Julius Vicson De La Cruz, PHO National Immunization Program manager said.

To cover the unvaccinated individuals, the Department of Health (DOH), the PHO, and the 17 local health offices did a mop-up activity from March 1-7.

The “Chikiting Ligtas” program, a national immunization program of the DOH, ran from February 1 to 28.*
