Rent hike in Tapaz market deferred

ROXAS CITY – The implementation of 10-percent increase in stall rentals at the Tapaz Public Market has been suspended recently.

Per Ara si Mitang Magbanua Facebook page, the Sangguniang Bayan of Tapaz has chosen to not implement it because of the Corona Virus Disease-19 (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Ini ang nagtuga sang kabudlayan sa mga Capizeno, ilabi na sa mga mangunguma kag sa small and medium enterprises,” the post read.

The pandemic has also affected the income of tenants of the public market.

The ordinance was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means of the Provincial Board and the board has upheld the validity of the Tapaz Ordinance.

The ordinance is called “Suspending the Implementation of the 10% Increase in the Stall Rental Fees at Tapaz Public Market During the Period of the State of Public Health Emergency.”

The board also authorized the Capiz Provincial Government to enter into an agreement with the Department of Agriculture in establishing a plant nursery in Barangay Lanot in ESLA.

Said agreement covers a term of 10 years renewable by both parties in agreement.
