For Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, the key to a sustainable agriculture and fishing industries is the proper implementation of laws that protects farmers and fisherfolks.

“We have a lot of very good laws to support these industries, but it is very important that it should be implemented properly,” Villar said while at the 2025 Farmers and Fisherfolk Celebration at Capiz Gym in Roxas City last March 4.

For example, Rep. Villar mentioned the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act. The law, which her mother Sen. Cynthia Villar was a co-author, prohibits profiteering from farmers who sell their crops at lower prices.

Rep. Villar also mentioned the Agrarian Emancipation Act that alleviates the debts including unpaid amortizations, interests, and surcharges incurred by farmer-beneficiaries of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

As a senatorial candidate for the 2025 midterm elections, Rep. Villar is also pushing for better legislative measures on women’s empowerment and OFW welfare.
