Roxas celebrates 70th Charter Day

ROXAS CITY – The Roxas City Government celebrated its 70th Charter Day on May 12.

A mass was held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, followed by a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the President Manuel A. Roxas Monument.

In 1951, President Elpidio Quirino signed Republic Act 603 which allowed Capiz to become a city.

The same law renamed the town of Capiz into Roxas City, which is named after the late president Manuel Roxas.*
