Roxas City among PH’s “Tastiest Travel Destinations”

Roxas City, the capital of Capiz province, is among the three Philippine cities included in the
“Tastiest Travel Destinations” list of Agoda, the travel booking website.
As the “Seafood Capital”, Agoda picked Roxas City for having fresh oysters and squids as well
as having wide selection of dried fish.
Agoda also mentioned the Palina Greenbelt Eco Park, where guests can enjoy freshly cooked
seafood while cruising along the river onboard a floating cottage. The river tour also gives
visitors an appreciation for an eco-tourism program managed by the community.
Agoda also recommended to visitors the Maragtas Street Food Market, which is held every
Friday.
The Agoda inclusion was welcomed both by Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and Capiz
Governor Fredenil Castro.
“Food trip ang napangita ninyo? Kadto kamo sa Roxas, kaon ta! (Want to have a food trip?
Come to Roxas. Let’s eat!),” said Dadivas in his official Facebook page.
Launched in June 2023, the Maragtas Street Food Market is an initiative of the Capiz Provincial
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office under the Castro administration.
The Maragtas Street Food Market enhances and boost tourism by preserving the province’s
culinary heritage through Pinoy street food such as balut, pork and chicken barbecue as well as
new renditions of empanada, turon and lumpia.
Roxas City joined Davao City and Angeles City, Pampanga in the list as Agoda’s culinary
destinations in the country.
Aside from the food, Agoda also recommended to visitors a heritage tour of the Immaculate
Conception Metropolitan Cathedral and the Capiz Provincial Capitol.
