For a second year in a row, the Roxas City Government recognized the contributions of its
outstanding citizens.
The Bahandi 2023: Roxas City Order of the Golden Heart was one of the sidelights of this
year’s Sinadya Festival, which honored the patroness saint the Lady of Immaculate
Conception.
“Ginakabig naton manggad nga naghatag bugal kag kadungganan sa aton syudad kag
importante nga kabahin sa magkaupod naton nga paghatag katumanan sa handum nga
Bigger, Better and Brighter Roxas City (We consider them as our treasures and they gave
us pride as well as support our vision for a Bigger, Better and Brighter Roxas City),” said
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
There were 15 individual awardees and two institutional awardees.
The 15 individual awards including National Artist Jovita Fuentes, writer-pianist Letizia
Roxas Constantino, former mayor Juliano Alba, Associate Justice Manuel Barrios, business
magnate Jose Nery Ong, Atty. Geraldine Acuna-Sunshine, Arch. Teresita Gavino, educator
Josefa V. Argos, Dr. Adolfo Bellosillo, Atty. Francisco “Pancho” Joaquin III, Engr. Reubin Yap,
Atty. Blas Viterbo, Dr. Ma. Teresa Gozon-Viterbo, Susan Agapito, and Dr. Renato Villanueva.
Family members of the posthumous awardees received the recognition from Dadivas and
Vice Mayor Teresa “Inday” Almalbis.
Meanwhile, the two institutional awardees were the Capiz State University Main Chorale
and Filamer Christian University Chorale.
“Kabay nga sila magserbi nga inspirasyon sa tagsa ka Roxasnon (Let us hope they serve as
inspiration to each one of us),” added Dadivas.
