Residents of Roxas City can avail a three-month free training on Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
The free ICT training is a partnership between the Roxas City Government under Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) based in Estancia, Iloilo.
Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Chief Caroline T. Dadivas said the free ICT training is open to bona fide residents of Roxas City aged 18 to 50 years old.
The program can only accommodate 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
The comprehensive training will be conducted in six phases, beginning with basic computer hardware servicing. Participants will learn how to dismantle, assemble, and repair computer units.
It also includes software training such as Microsoft Office and Excel productivity tools, print media design fundamentals, printing services operations, Canva digital and print media design, and practical animation applications.
Dadivas expressed optimism that after completing the program, participants will be able to start their own small businesses using their mobile phones, work from home, or secure employment in government offices or private companies.
She emphasized that equipping residents with digital skills increases their employability and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Dadivas added the initiative also supports the city government’s long-term vision of digital transformation.
With the establishment of the Roxas City Innovation Laboratory Hub, the PESO foresees that the trainees can contribute to the city’s goal of becoming a fully digital city in the future.
