Safety concerns stop passage of QR system

ROXAS CITY — Concerns over data security halted the passage of the proposed Quick Response code system for tracing COVID-19 patients.

The ordinance for the implementation of the Digitized Roxas City Epidemiological Contact Tracing System was supposed to be taken up on December 15, Councilor Cesar Yap said.

“Despite the assurance sang ICT team nga we use the maximal advanced mechanism of encryption for data security, with many cities using such system, the doubts on some councilors are still there,” Yap said.

He added, “tani nahambal na ina sa committee hearing pa lang.”*
