The reward system of the local government unit (LGU) of Sigma has been an effective tool in arresting alleged rapists.
“Epektibo gid man ining rewards system naton (Our reward system is very effective),” said Mayor Dante Rizal Eslabon.
This was after the recent arrest of rape suspect Jhon Marth Cosares in Cebu.
Cosares was the sixth most wanted criminal in the province.
To recall, an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Sigma has a reward of P50,000 for anyone who can provide reliable information against an alleged rapist.
Cosares was the third rape suspect to have been arrested by the Sigma Municipal Police Station (Sigma MPS) after the Sigma LGU institutionalized the reward system.
“Kung sin-o ang naga panumdom nga mang-rape, madakpan gid kamo diri sa banwa sang Sigma (Whoever is thinking of committing rape, you will be caught here in Sigma),” Eslabon added.
The mayor also credited the Sigma MPS for the efforts in case build up against rape suspects.
