Tapaz LGU trains on community-based healing

The local government unit (LGU) of Tapaz is the sole participant from the Province of Capiz
during the training by the Local Government Academy for establishing community-based
healing and meditation programs.
Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar led the delegation of LGU Tapaz during the first-ever
training for LGUs in Quezon City last May 22-24, 2024.
The mayor was joined by Sangguniang Bayan Member Marlon Perez, Municipal Social Welfare
Office (MSWD) chief Josie Cambel, and Gelli Danielle Gelilang.
The training was a step towards strengthening local governance and ensuring that LGUs are
equipped with the necessary tools to address conflicts and promote community healing.
The pioneer batch for municipal-level LGUs included Atimonan, Buenavista, Caluag, Murcia,
Candelaria, Lubuagan, Pasig, Sabangan, San Vicente, Tapaz, and Taytay.
These municipalities were selected for their potential to effectively implement mediation and
healing mechanisms within their communities.
The Tapaz LGU delegates showcased exceptional engagement throughout the training.
They actively participated in various sessions, sharing insights and experiences that highlighted
their commitment to fostering peace and resolving conflicts within their municipality.
