ROXAS CITY – The ordinance granting amnesty on interest for delinquent real property taxes in the city was approved by the members of the City Council on May 18.
Under the measure, the tax delinquencies covered are delinquencies in 2020 and prior years as long as the real property tax for 2021 is paid in full.
The ordinance, which requires delinquent real property taxes to be paid in full, is effective until September 30, 2021.
This ordinance would cover lands and properties which include commercial buildings, residential houses, and other structures in the city that have delinquent and unpaid real property tax whether it is classified as commercial, residential, industrial, or agricultural.
Real properties and lands outside the city that have pending cases in regular courts, either for collections or real property tax involving a question of ownership, and real properties of delinquent taxpayers which are subject to a one-year redemption period, are excluded from the ordinance.
The delinquent real properties cannot be auctioned during the amnesty period.
The ordinance was authored by Councilor Jericho Celino and sponsored by Councilor Albert Gary Potato.*
