The Capiz Times Binalaybay Contest was one of the side events of this year’s Capiztahan, which celebrated the 125th anniversary of the civil government.
Seven competitors performed their original spoken poetry during the April 16, 2026 contest at the main campus of Capiz State University (CAPSU) in Roxas City
Ace Neil B. Borda of the Municipality of Panay emerged as champion with his winning piece “Ikaw bala ang matuod nga Capiznon?”
First runner up was Rey Mark Padernilla of Maayon.
Second runner up was Jay Basa of Ivisan.
Third runner up was Christian Dela Cruz of Roxas City.
Other contestants were Angel Dollete of Pilar, Wilson Dela Cruz of Roxas City and Arechyl Azucena.
Rey Dela Cruz, station manager of Love Radio and president of Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP-Capiz Chapter), served as the chief judge.
RMN Roxas station manager Elizer Abarra, Bombo Radyo Roxas station manager Chris Jan Lozada and Eduardo “Ed” Basilonia were also judges.
Capiz 1st District Congressman Howard Guintu and Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Member Cesar Yap Jr. also graced the competition.
