Once again, there’s a Little Free Library (LFL) in Roxas City.
The LFL was relaunched last March 21, 2025 at Papa Mikhael’s, which is a Mediterranean restaurant along Baybay Beach.
“It is one of 200,000 little free libraries in 128 countries,” said Charie Albar.
As one of the charter members of the global organization, the LFL was originally launched in Roxas City last May 2017.
As the first LFL in the entire Panay Island, the LFL originally partnered with Jacque’s Coffee & Chill that is also located along Baybay Beach.
“Locals enjoyed the books and magazines the LFL offered to both adults and children until the pandemic rolled in. People then opted to stay at home rather than go out and our library languished,” recalled Charie.
With the pandemic over, Charie recalled that Mercedes Ortiz Ignacio decided to resurrect the free library.
“We were lucky to have found Mikhael Dayoub who gladly volunteered to host the LFL,” added Charie.
Residents of Roxas City and nearby municipalities are encouraged to visit the LFL at Papa Mikhael’s.
“The books are free to take. But if you give a book, you’ll help sustain the library for years to come,” urged Charie.
