Trucks for 60 barangays

SIXTY barangays from four municipalities now have trucks from the Capiz Provincial Government. Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro personally handed over the keys and vehicle documents to the mayors and barangay officials from the municipalities of Cuartero, Dao, Dumarao, and Ivisan.
During a recent turnover ceremony at the Capiz Provincial Capitol Grounds,Castro said the Izuzu trucks are heavy-duty vehicles that can serve the needs of the people.
The Castro administration prioritized far-flung barangays as beneficiaries because of the plight and difficulty of residents during times of emergency and natural disasters.
The trucks can traverse rough roads including the ones in mountain barangays.
Each of the trucks are inscribed with “Yuhom kag balatyagon sang pomuluyong Kapisnon”.
Castro reminded barangay officials that the trucks are not for their personal use, but to serve the people in times of emergency or official functions of the barangays.
Mayor Matt Hachuela of Dumarao expressed gratitude to the governor for including barangays in his hometown.
Hachuela reminded officials of recipient barangays to be responsible for fuel and the maintenance cost of the vehicles.
The Castro administration hopes to distribute trucks to all 476 barangays in the province.
The first batch of releasing was last year when 60 trucks were distributed to beneficiary barangays.
Meanwhile, the next batch of releasing will be on April or May 2024.
