‘Uwan’ displaces 23,600 persons

More than 23,600  persons were displaced when Typhoon “Uwan” passed by the Province of Capiz on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

A report of the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) listed 23,644 people from 7,728 families evacuated.

The displaced residents were mostly from coastal barangays of Roxas City as well as the Municipalities of Panay, Pilar, President Roxas, Sigma, Ivisan, and Sapian.

Majority of them had homes damaged by the very strong waves and winds from Uwan.

Based on PDRRM’s list, the Municipality of Panay was the most affected.  There were 16,156 persons from 5,266 families who were evacuated.

The Municipality of Pilar had 2,723 people from 895 families evacuated.

Roxas City also had 2,241 from 716 families who were evacuated.

The road to Punta Cogon was also damaged, but was repaired by Sunday afternoon with Mayor Ronnie Dadivas personally supervising.

As of press time, there were no reported injuries.  Many heeded the call of the mayors for preemptive evacuation.

Meanwhile, the damages to property from both Typhoon Tino and Typhoon Uwan has yet to be calculated.
