After winning his 2nd straight term, Mayor Jose “Joe” Villanueva assured more development projects for the Municipality of Sapian.
“Ita-o ta sa tawo ang para sa tawo (Let’s give the services that’s due to the people),” Villanueva told The Capiz Times.
For Villaueva, his reelection manifests the people’s trust and his administration’s commitment to people-centered governance.
Among Villanueva’s top priorities are the construction of a public market, creating a new water system, improving farm-to-market roads, and enhance tourism. These will be funded by local resources.
Villanueva is also planning to ask the Department of Health (DOH) to construct a Super Health Center.
Villanueva was elated with his slate’s almost landslide win, especially that he won with a margin of nearly 12,000 votes against Doni Oducado.
His running mate, Vice Mayor Ralph Odrunia, was reelected without an opponent.
Only one of his slate’s candidates did not win a seat in the Sangguniang Bayan (SB).
Villanueva was a practicing lawyer before serving as Capiz provincial administrator under former Governor Victor Tanco Sr. for nine years. He was first elected mayor of Sapian in 2022.
