It was April 21, 2022 when Cardinal Jose Advincula Jr. of the Archbishop of Manila had a private audience with Pope Francis, who died last Easter Monday.
During that meeting in the Vatican, Cardinal Advincula gave a souvenir made out of the famous Capiz shells to the late Holy Father.
The Capiznon cardinal was one of the four Filipino cardinals who attended the April 26, 2025 funeral of Pope Francis.
He will also be one of the three Filipino cardinals who will elect the new pope.
A native of Dumalag, Advincula was the archbishop of Capiz when he was appointed as cardinal in November 2020 by Pope Francis.
By March 2021, the pope appointed Advincula as the new Archbishop of Manila. He was installed in June 2021. (Photos from the Vatican News)
