Capiz Board Member Jonathan Besa is asking the provincial government to hold off the purchase of 30 rescue vehicles worth P24 million.
On November 3, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office has submitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) the proposal, which will be sourced from this year’s 5 percent calamity fund, Besa, chairman of SP committee on appropriations, said.
He said that each vehicle would cost P800,000.
The SP acknowledges the importance of rescue vehicles but given the present situation, COVID-related initiatives should be prioritized, he said.
Besa stressed he is not politicking, adding that it is part of his mandate to ensure check and balance in the province.*
