WV crime volume drops by 20%

The crime volume in Western Visayas has dropped by 20 percent in 10 months this year.

Police Regional Office-6 records showed that from January to October this year,  14,022 crime incidents were recorded from 17,534 in the same period last year.

The region’s eight focus crimes also decreased by 9.72 percent.

For nine months this year, there are 2,136 cases compared to the same period last year with 2, 366. The eight focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, rape, carnapping of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Among these crimes, theft incidents increased this year, from 424 last year to 530, and carnapping with six cases this year from one last year.*
