WV ‘Dagyaw’ virtual town hall meetings launched

A series of virtual meetings will kicked off on November 3 to engage participants from Western Visayas to a sharing of information and updating on the undertakings and efforts of the government to address their concerns and uplift their trust and confidence that it is doing its best to serve them well.

The Dagyaw 2021 Open Government Town Hall Meetings virtual series will further provide platforms for citizens and government to hold discussion on local service delivery especially with regard to COVID 19-Recovery efforts of the country as well as the changes being implemented under the Supreme Court ruling on the Mandanas-Garcia Case.

Its outputs will also serve as key references of the government in public decision-making, and in shaping and updating government policies that can lead to  better public sector performance and service delivery.

“Dagyaw,” a hiligaynon word which  means “togetherness” emphasizes the importance of “Bayanihan” in moving towards  a stronger and greater nation.

The first episode of the virtual series dubbed “Usapang Mandanas at Budget” will primarily tackle the implementation of Executive Order 138 series of 2021 or the Full  Devolution of Certain Functions of the Executive Branch to Local Governments,  including the status of the Devolution Transition Plans (DTPs).

It will also provide insights and the experiences of the local government units in formulating the DTPs and present the capacity development programs of the academe in assisting the LGUs in the formulation and implementation of DTPs.

Organizers have invited Director Mae Chua of Department of Budget and Management (DBM) 6; Punong Barangay Niel Candelario of Brgy. Poblacion Kalibo, Aklan;  Imelda Quidato, Municipal Planning Development Coordinator of Jamindan, Capiz; George Zulueta, Executive Assistant to the City Mayor, Bacolod City; and Dr. Heinz Gumaquil, Director of Public Information and Communication Office, ISAT-U as resource persons during the session which will start at 8:30 A.M.

The Department of Interior and Local Government, DBM 6, and Philippine Information Agency 6 are lead conveners of the event in coordination with Western Visayas Network of NGOs.

The next episodes of the Dagyaw 2021 virtual series include Usapang Kalusugan at Ekonomiya on November 10; Usapang Edukasyon sa New Normal on November 17; and Paghugpong para sa Mas Maayo nga Serbisyo Lokal on November 24.
