WV marks 74.88% vax drive accomplishment

Western Visayas has recorded 592, 341 vaccinated individuals during the three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan, based on partial accomplishment of the Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas Center for Health Development as of December 2.

In the agency’s press statement, DOH noted that this figure translates to 74.88% of the region’s target accomplishment for the National Vaccination Days which is 791,034.

Of the inoculated individuals, 501, 106 received their first jab, 79, 979 had their second dose, and 11, 256 got the booster shots.

According to DOH-6, the greatest number of vaccine recipients came from the pediatric population followed by the A5 priority group and the essential workers.

Meanwhile, the highest statistics of the inoculation coverage was logged on the first day with 207, 356.

A total of 180, 434 were vaccinated on the second day and 204, 551 on the last day.

Public areas such as gymnasiums,schools, and churches comprised the more than 500 vaccination sites in the region.

For his part, DOH-6 regional director Dr. Adriano Suba-an expressed his appreciation to the local government units, national government agencies, civil society organizations, and volunteers for their unified efforts during the Bayanihan Bakunahan.

Moreover, Suba-an encouraged the eligible individuals to avail of the government’s free vaccination as an added layer of protection against the dreaded virus. (PR)
