WV workers get DOLE assistance

A total of 1,160 workers in Western Visayas received P5.8 million financial assistance under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) 3 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 6.

Each beneficiary of the said program received one-time financial assistance of P5,000.

In a press release, DOLE-6 director lawyer Sixto Rodriguez, Jr. said that most of the affected workers are from establishments that engaged in accommodation and food services which equates to 42.84% of the beneficiaries.

Some are from other sectors such as transportation and storage, education, manufacturing, real estate, wholesale and retail, construction and repair of motor vehicles, and the motorcycles industry.

The third wave of financial assistance under the CAMP was provided to displaced or temporarily laid-off workers affected by retrenchment, permanent or temporary closure implemented by their employers as a mitigating measure due to the effect of COVID-19 pandemic particularly during the implementation of Alert Level 3 or higher in their area.

To fill the needs of the affected workers, Rodriguez supervised the fast evaluation of the applications and in the timely release of the financial assistance.

Due to the effect of the declaration of Alert Level 3 in the tourism industry in Boracay Island, the Province of Aklan recorded the most number of affected workers with 739, followed by Capiz – 164, and Iloilo – 131.

Earlier, it can be recalled that pursuant to Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution No. 163-A which placed all areas in the country below Alert Level No. 3, the CAMP 3 no longer accepts online applications effective March 4, 2022. (PIA6)
