Capiz welcomes new police chief

POLICE Colonel Albert D. Tapulao has assumed his new role as the provincial director of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
This was following a change of command ceremony presided by Police Brigadier General Archival D. Macala, deputy regional of Police Regional Office (PRO-6), at Camp Apil in Roxas City last
September 17, 2024. Tapulao succeeded Police Colonel Jerome Afuyog Jr., who served as police provincial
director for nearly two years.
Afuyog expressed gratitude to local government units for their support during his tenure, during which
he was able to significantly reduce crime rates and received several awards for his accomplishments.
One of Afuyog’s key contributions was the construction of the “Ob-obfu Building,” named after a term from the Bontoc Mountain Province that means “cooperation.”
The building will serve as a conference room for the CPPO. Capiz Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro praised Afuyog for his excellent performance and challenged Tapulao to either match or exceed his predecessor’s accomplishments.

Witnessed during the turn-over of command were mayors and police chiefs of the different municipalities, Capiz Provincial Board led by Vice Governor James “Mitang” Magbanua, CPPO’s advisory council, local media, and friends of the outgoing police director.

Before his appointment, Tapulao served as chief of the PRO-6 finance department.
Both he and Afuyog are graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy Kabalikat Class of 1998.
